Police arrests drug peddlers in Sgr, Anantnag
Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Srinagar and Anantnag and recovered contraband substance from their possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that police personnel at a checkpoint established at Shalteng Parimpora signaled three persons to stop for checking. However, one among them fled from the spot while the two persons identified as Firdous Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh and Adil Ahmad Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat, both residents of Shalteng Parimpora were apprehended. On checking, 250 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession.
On questioning, the duo revealed the identification of the third person as their associate namely Ghulam Nabi Dar son of Habib-ul-lah Dar resident of Parimpora Srinagar. Efforts are on to nab the accused person.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 67/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Parimpora and investigation has been initiated.
In another incident police established a checkpoint established at Pethbugah Dialgham and intercepted one person identified as Altaf Ahmad Ganie son of Gul Mohammad Ganie resident of Shichen Dialgam. During checking, officers were able to recover 120 tablets of Alprsafe, 88 capsules of Proxwel and 45 tablets of Anxit from his possession.
In another action, police party from Police Station Anantnag during routine checking at KP road Anantnag intercepted one person identified as Manzoor Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan resident of Gopalpora Mattan. During checking, officers were able to recover 18 bottles of Codeine Phosphate, 9 bottles of Welcyrex and a cash amount of ₹5500/ from his possession.
Both the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, cases vide FIR numbers 93/2021 and 94/2021 respectively under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Anantnag and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
