Intensive market checking drive held at Srinagar

SRINAGAR: In the wake of the forthcoming holy month of Ramzan and on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, the special teams of district administration Srinagar on Monday conducted intensive market checking in different parts of Srinagar city.
The teams headed by concerned Tehsildars inspected various markets within their jurisdiction and booked several erring shopkeepers found failing to maintain the quality of food items, not displaying rate lists of essential commodities, selling expiry products, besides indulging in practices of illegal profiteering and sale of underweight products.
During the market checking anti polythene drive was also carried out in city areas
A fine of Rs 48000 was imposed on the erring shopkeepers and rotten vegetables and other items were destroyed on the spot, besides around 10kg of polythene was seized and destroyed.
