MC Pulwama dumps garbage along circular road
Locals express resentment, say move causes inconvenience
Pulwama: The municipal committee Pulwama is dumping garbage along the circular road near Govt Degree College for women due to which local residents as well as the commuters and pedestrians face lot of inconvenience, locals said.
They said that on regular basis, the garbage is dumped near the college due to which local residents, college going students and others are facing lot of inconvenience.
“All the dirt and heaps of garbage collected from the entire town is dumped here which is very close to residential area. This leads to lot of stink and attracts stray dogs as well,” Mir Zeeshan, a local resident said.
The dumping site poses serious health risk amid the covid-19 pandemic, he added.
He said that the foul smell from the dumping site is also causing problems for the local shopkeepers.
Despite having space available at many places authorities have chosen this point to dump the garbage thereby creating problems for the inhabitants, a local shop owner said.
The locals have now requested the concerned authorities to look into the matter and stop dumping waste at the site.
On contacting executive officer Municipal Committee Pulwama Mohammed Iqbal Bhat he acknowledged that locals are facing problems.
“Very soon we will find a way out as we are looking for alternative locations,” he told ‘Kashmir Vision’.
