Claims arrest of two OGW’s

Sopore: Police on Saturday claimed to have cracked the case of grenade throwing incident by arresting two militant associates of Lashker-e-Toiba in north Kashmir’s Sopore.

Police said that on 12th December last year unknown militants hurled a Hand Grenade towards Police Post Bus Stand which missed the intended target and exploded outside gate of the Police Post, resulting into the injuries of three civilians.
Regarding the incident Case FIR No.349/2020 was registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation set into the motion.
Police said that during the course of investigation two suspects identified as Mohammad Asif Najar son of Mushtaq Ahmad Najar resident of Noor Bagh Sopore and Sahil Rashid Bhat son of Abdul Rashid Bhat resident of Green Town Sopore were apprehended and during questioning they confessed that they are working for LeT outfit as overground workers and had hurled the grenade on Police Post Bus Stand on the directions of LeT militants.
The duo also confessed that they were desirous to join the militant ranks but before that a hand grenade was handed over to them with the directions to throw it on any security forces in Sopore area.
Both have been formally arrested on Ist April and are presently on Police remand. Further investigation is going on, police said.
