Former CM Farooq Abdullah hospitalized

Srinagar: Former Chief Minister and Member of Parliament from Srinagar constituency Dr. Farooq Abdullah, who had tested positive for COVID-19 a few days back, was on Saturday shifted to SK Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) for specialized treatment.
After showing some symptoms, the senior Abdullah was tested positive for COVID-19 on March 30.
Sources within the party said that a team of doctors visited the residents of Farooq Abdullah today morning following which they found his oxygen saturation down and advised him to get hospitalized for some days.
They said the doctors advised senior Abdullah to visit a prominent hospital in New Delhi, which he refused and preferred to get hospitalized in a hospital in Srinagar. Abdullah has been admitted at Covid-19 designated ward in SKIMS Soura.
“Dr. Sahab has been advised to stay in the hospital for two-three days keeping in view of his already ailing health condition,” they said, adding that he was feeling better in the afternoon and spoke with the family.
Farooq Abdullah’s son and former chief minister, Omar Abdullah in a tweet today morning shared the news about the health condition of his father and said that his family was grateful to everyone for their support and prayers.
“Based on the advice of doctors to enable them to better monitor my father, he has been admitted to hospital in Srinagar. Our family remains grateful to everyone for their messages of support & their prayers,” Omar tweeted.
Meanwhile, when contacted the top officials at SKIMS including Director A G Ahangar as well as Medical Superintendent Farooq Jan, refused to talk about the health condition of Farooq Abdullah, saying that they are not authorized to speak over the issue.
However, one of the officials informed that he is stable and is doing well. The official further informed that the doctors have hospitalized him as precautionary measure due to comorbidities and his age.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha prayed for the speedy recovery of National Conference (NC) president.
“I pray to Allah for his speedy recovery,” Sinha told reporters on the sidelines of a function at Tulip Garden here.
Meanwhile, NC general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar on Saturday presided over a meeting here at the party headquarters ‘Nawa-e-Subha’ where he led the party functionaries in praying for the speedy recovery and well-being of the party president.
Sagar thanked everyone for their good wishes and prayers for Abdullah’s quick recovery.
“I express my earnest gratitude to all socio-political, religious leaders and people from all walks of life for their good wishes for the speedy recovery of Dr Farooq Sahib from COVID-19. The get-well wishes and prayers that have been pouring in from across the country and abroad have comforted us all at this difficult time,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to the workers, party functionaries and people for holding special prayers in various prominent shrines and mosques.
On the occasion, Sagar advised party functionaries and workers to exercise caution and refrain from visiting hospitals where the party president has been hospitalised.
