Sopore attack: Injured Councilor succumbs, death toll touches three

Srinagar, Mar 30 : The injured Municipal councilor who suffered critical injuries during the militant attack in Sopore area of north-Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday has succumbed to his injuries, taking the death toll in the attack to three.
Official sources said that the deceased councilor identified as Shams-ud-Din Peer of Khushal Colony Sopore was critically injured and was shifted from SDH Sopore to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for further treatments. However, he succumbed to his injuries during the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday.
Earlier two persons including another councilor identified as Reyaz Ahmad and a policeman (SPO) Shafqat Nazir Khan were killed as militants fired “indiscriminately upon the Municipal Councilors at municipal council office Sopore during an official meeting.
Four cops have been suspended after the attack.
