Pulwama: The unscheduled power cuts in different areas of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district are making the lives of the common people miserable as the issue is giving them a tough time.
Locals from different areas of Pulwama have expressed strong resentment against the PDD department for failing to provide scheduled power supply in dozens villages of the district.
They alleged that the step motherly behaviour of Power Development Department has left them in complete darkness since November last year.
Residents of Panzgam, Chakoora, Grawgund, Rakh, ZahidBagh, Darbagh and its adjacent areas have expressed strong resentment over irregular power supply in the area and appealed authorities to look into the matter.
They alleged that they are hardly getting power supply of just few hours per day and despite repeated requests to the concerned authorities no attention is being provided towards them.
They said that they have appealed authorities in this regard so many times but to no avail.
The locals alleged that from last few years, they were getting almost scheduled power supply, however, this year and mainly from last month, PDD is resorting to unscheduled power cuts due to unknown reasons.
“If we are submitting fee on time every month, then where is the power supply that is due to us,” Tawseef Ahmad, a local resident said.
The locals now requested Chief Engineer Power Development Corporation to look into the matter and redress the issue at an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief.
Concerned Assistant Executive Engineer PDD, Fayaz Ahmad said that area is getting scheduled power supply, however, due to heavy load sometimes they are forced to cut the supply for some time.
He said that if people won’t indulge in misuse of power by using high-voltage electronic devices including heaters and boilers especially during peak hours then they will get power supply as per schedule
