Warns butchers of violations

Srinagar: Director Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Kashmir Bashir Ahmed Thursday said that mutton crisis is over in Kashmir as new rates have been agreed upon by the mutton dealers and the government.
The official said that mutton will be sold at Rs 535 per kg without offal and Rs 490 with offal.
In an official order issued by the Directorate mutton sellers were warned of strict action including lodging of FIR and sealing of shops in case of any violations including less weight and poor quality of meat is reported by the people.
“The newly fixed rates per kilogram of dressed mutton is Rs 535 without offal and Rs 490 with 100g offal,” the order said.
The order further states that, the “The issue was discussed by the Chairman with stakeholders again on March 17, 2021 and in view of separate Affidavits furnished by wholesale/retail mutton dealers to abide by the Government instructions/rate list, the new rate was decided and accordingly notified.” (KNO)
