Contractor alleges harassment by village head
Says he asked for bribe of Rs 60k
Srinagar: A local contractor has ffiled a complaint after being made to pay bribe by a village-head and her deputy in Kranshivan of Sangrama block in north-Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The contractor said that the Sarpanch alongside her Panch had demanded a bribe to the tune of Rs. 60000 on or the other pretexts, while he had started various civil works at the Block level.
“They kept on pressurizing me to pay the amount, and succumbing to their demands I paid them”, he said adding that “However the duo kept on blackmailing me and even after the payment, used to deduct a certain percentage from the allocated amount from the concerned office.”
“They kept on harassing me even and I have a recorded audio clip with me which I have produced before ADC Office Baramulla”, he said.
When contacted ADC Baramulla Yawar Ali said that he has received the complaint in this regard and assured that an action will be taken against the persons even as maintaining that a case has been taken already made into it at Police Station Tarzoo.
Meanwhile, a police official at Tarzoo while confirming the development said that an FIR number 18/2021 under sections 161, 420 stands registered in this regard even as further investigation has already been started. (GNS)
