Dooru residents protest pesky power cuts, stage protest
Anantnag: The residents of different areas of Dooru Shahabaad in south Kashmir’s Anantnag on Monday staged protest against the PDD department for failing to provide scheduled power supply to the area.
The protesters from different villages of the belt assembled at main chowk Dooru and raised slogans againstthe PDD department.
The protest lead by different forums and Auqaf committee Dooru continued for hours and the participants demanded attention of concerned higher ups in this regard.
An Auqaf member said that despite being a metered area, they are hardly receiving power supply for one to two hours which is sheer injustice.
He said that last month we received bill around Rs 600 and this month it is over three thousand despite the fact that the area hardly gets any electricity.
Shahabaad development forum president Zahoor Ahmad Malik said that he has met LG regarding power crisis in the area but nothing happened on ground.
He said that when no electricity is provided to the local residents why should they pay their bills.
The protestors once again appealed higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest.
The protestors threatened to intensity their agitation in case the areas do not get regular power supply.
The protestors later appealed LG Manoj Sinha and Chief Engineer PDD to personally look into the matter and put an end to their sufferings.
