Amid rain, SRTC employees staged protest
Srinagar: Amid rain, scores of employees of the Road Transport Corporation Monday staged a demonstration in Srinagar in support of their demands, which included release of salary, implementation of 7th pay commission and regularization of consolidated workers.
Holding play cards in their hands, the employees raised slogans in support of their demands.
One of the protesters said that a letter was sent to management of the J&K Road Transport Corporation and other concerned that if their demands are not met as early as possible they will intensify their protest.
He said protest will follow by a pen-down strike and rallies at the Headquarter in Jammu and Srinagar.
“Despite being an essential service and working as frontline warrior during the Covid-19 pandemic, the employees were not being paid their salaries for the past 9 months,” he added and demanded immediate release of wages to save employees from starvation.
He further said that they are demanding implementation of 7th pay commission and regularization of consolidated employees who are working in the RTC for the past more than ten years.
“If government cannot run this Corporation, let it close the corporation and pay us our dues”, he said adding since it is essential service for common people it is the duty of the Government to run it smoothly. (KNT)
