“There were 1700 contractual lecturers prior to August 2019. In Kashmir Division there were 900 and 800 hailed from Jammu. All were disengaged without issuing any formal order,” the protesting lecturers said.
They said government has done injustice towards them. “We are suffering badly and all our pleas and requests are being ignored.”
“We have rendered our prime age in serving the Education Department. We have grown old, and lack the energy to follow dictatorial commands anymore,” they said.
They said the government discontinued their services in 2019 and has not released their salaries till date thus impacting their social life. They further alleged that government “exploits the educated youth of Kashmir through ‘use and throw’ policy.”
