Illegal excavation of minerals banned at Shopian
SHOPIAN: The District Administration Shopian Monday banned illegal extraction and unlawful mining from riverbeds, nallahs, water-bodies in any form and by any method.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, S K Vaishya today impressed upon the concerned officers to strengthen the mechanism of checking illegal excavation of minor minerals.
He directed District Mineral Officer to gear up activities and also take help of all the line departments, Tehsildars and police to tackle with the situation and take serious action against the violators who are found illegally excavating the minerals.He also directed for establishing Nakas at various sites from today positively to stop illegal extraction of minerals in the district.
Earlier, the District Mineral Officer briefed the DC about the present status of the mining blocks in the district.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, SDM Zainapora, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, District Mineral Officer, Tehsildars and other officers attended the meeting.
