Pulwama: The residents of Deedarpora and Jawaharpora in Lam Aripal belt of Tral sub division in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded construction of a bridge over a local nallah.
The residents of Deedarpora and Jawaharpora said that they are facing lot of problems in absence of bridge in the area.
The residents of Deedarpora said that their children are studying in other parts of the area and have to walk through a makeshift bridge which gets washed away in every summer when the water level in the nallah rises.
Ghulam Hyder Dar, a local resident said that they are facing lot of problems in absence of a bridge.
“We are forced to carry patients and the elderly on our shoulders and cross the makeshift bridge with great difficulty to reach to a nearby health facility,” Dar said.
He said that during summers the school going children do not make it to their schools as they cannot cross the fast flowing nallah in absence of a bridge.
He added that many people of the area have suffered critical injuries during various mishaps that occurred while they were attempting to cross the nallah.
The locals said that they have knocked the doors of every government authority to get their issue redressed but to no avail.
“The government once issued a tender notice for the construction of the bridge but for unknown reasons it was later cancelled,” they added.
The locals once again requested the authorities to look into the issue and demanded construction of the bridge at an earliest.
