Drug & Food Control Organization conducts drive against milk adulteration

JAMMU: The Drug and Food Control Organization conducted an extensive drive across the Union Territory against milk adulteration in the market to ensure consumers get safe and quality product.
During the drive, more than 100 samples of loose and Packed milk were lifted for analysis besides 37 Food Business Operators were booked under the relevant provision of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, for carrying out their business under unhygienic and unsanitary condition .
Commissioner Food & Drugs Administration, Shakeel-Ur-Rehman, has directed all the food business operators to provide safe and wholesome food to consumers. He cautioned that strict action under law shall be initiated against the defaulters in case of any violation.
Pertinently, Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Duloo, is regularly monitoring the performance of Food Testing Laboratories besides reviewing activities being carried out by the enforcement staff.
