Eight years on, vital veterinary centre in Shopian village awaits completion

Shopian: It has been more than eight years since the work on the vital veterinary centre in upper belt of Shopian was started however, the centre still awaits completion.
Locals from Zawoora village of Shopian district said that authorities after repeated requests started the construction works on the veterinary centre in year 2012 however, since then the centre has not been completed.
They said that the building has started decaying as no attention was provided by the authorities to complete the building.
They further that one storey of the centre was completed in year 2013, however it was left unattended for many years and the second storey was completed two years back but there is no word from the officials regarding completion of the project.
They said that all locals in the village rear cattle to earn a livelihood and in absence of veterinary centre, they are facing lot of problems.
They further added that for every minor issues, they have to take their livestock to Shopian which is proving a very hectic affair for them.
The locals once again requested the authorities to look into the matter and complete this centre at an earliest so that locals can have a sigh of relief.
Officials within the Animal husbandry department said that they have repeatedly asked R&B department to complete the building at an earliest.
Executive Engineer R&B Shopian, Mohammad Yousuf when contacted said that they are expecting funds from government in March this year and after that the building will be completed and handed over to the concerned department.
