Block Diwas held at Budgam, Ang, Shop, B’pora and Kulgam

SRINAGAR: The Block Diwas/Youm e Block, a part of ambitious Jan Abhiyan programme was observed at Budgam, Anantnag, Shopian, Bandipora and Kulgam districts of Kashmir division, during which concerned District Development Commissioners (DDC’s) and other officers listened to public issues, grievances and demands.
The Block Diwas was observed to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for accurate and on ground assessment and redressal of the same thereby providing governance to the public at their door steps.
The DDCs on the occasion highlighted the objectives of the Jan Abhiyan, Jan Sunwayi, Dehi Taraqiyaati and Poshan Abhiyan programmes informing the public that these grand public campaigns are aimed at reaching out to the people for redressal of their grievances and addressing developmental issues.
At Budgam: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza today conducted a public outreach programme at Govt Degree College Beerwah under Block Diwas initiative.
On the occasion, scores of delegations and individuals of the area put forth several issues and grievances to the DDC including improvement and macadamisation of roads, lanes and bylanes, augmentation cum improvement of power supply, safe drinking water, removal of encroachment at Beerwah, development of bus bay, and shifting of SDM office at Beerwah besides facility of digital X-Ray at Sub District Hospital Beerwah.
The DDC gave patient hearing to the issues, grievances and demands flagged by the public. He assured them that all their genuine demands will be addressed on priority.
Later on the DDC distributed Domicile, Income, backward certificates among many beneficiaries.
At Anantnag: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, Anshul Garg today convened a public outreach programme at district headquarter.
On the occasion, the public raised a few grievances and demands including issues related to sand mining, de-siltation of Dadi Kanal, proper crossing and ramp facilities on 4-lane national highway, road maintenance at Marhama etc.
The DDC paid a patient ear to all of them and issued appropriate on spot directions to the concerned for redressal of genuine demands.
He directed the SDM to monitor the grievances received on LGs Grievances Portal and focus on quality response. He said officers should categorically flag budget constraints, non feasibility provisions of law etc while responding to the grievances.
He also directed all the sectoral officers to ensure punctuality and accountability of the subordinate staff in all official matters.
The DC directed the SDM to take up the issue of crossing, ramp facilities etc at National highway with NHAI so that the issues are resolved soon. He also directed the BDO to involve PRIs in manual sand mining process and get the list of manual sand miners authenticated by Gram Sabhas and added that however, sand mining by machines is strictly prohibited.
The DDC along with ADC(S) and ADC (G) and other concerned district officers inspected Mini Secretariat Complex Bijbehara where the SDM informed that the construction work in the said complex is near completion.
Later on the DDC also visited crossing areas at Semthan and Jablipora and took firsthand stock of the status of these crossings.
Meanwhile the public outreach programme Subdivision/Block Diwas continued in all sub divisions of Anantnag. Officers of the District Administration visited many areas of the district to address the grievances and demands of the public.
The programme was attended by a large number of local people, PRI members & officers of the Line Departments at all venues.
At Shopian: The Mega Block Diwas was held at Government Hr. Sec. School, Kaprin, Shopian.
To take first hand appraisal of public grievances and demands, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, S B Suse remained available at the venue and listened to the public grievances and issues.
Scores of deputations and large numbers of individuals met the DDC and put forth their genuine demands including road connectivity, portable drinking water facility, uninterrupted power supply, repairs of lanes and drains, street lights etc.
The DDC after giving patient hearing resolved some of the issues and grievances on the spot and assured the public of resolving all the genuine issues in a time bound manner.
On the occasion, sanction letters and other Certificates like Domicile, ST etc. were distributed by the DDC among the.
The programme was attended by officers and officials of line departments besides members of PRIs.
The programme witnessed a massive response of the public from all blocks where concerned officers from all departments listened to the issues and demands of people for early redressal.
At Bandipora: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad held the public outreach programme at Sumbal Sub Division while Additional District Development Commissioner Afsar Ali Khan chaired the programme at Bandipora.
The people hailing from different areas of Sumbal Sub-Division attended the programme and put forth their issues relating to problems faced by them particularly drinking water supply, restoration of power supply in the areas affected by recent snowfall, besides restoration of road connectivity of remote areas also came into submission.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC assured all deputations and individuals that their grievances and demands will be addressed at the earliest.
He directed to make available two boats at Nesbal for transportation of people till the bridge is complete over the river at the village. He also asked the department of horticulture to provide agricultural tools including irrigation motors to the people of these areas.
A committee under the chairmanship of SDM Bandipora was also constituted to examine the various aspects and issues of road safety like obstacles, reflective paintings etc. Another committee was constituted to check the alleged irregularities in construction and non-completion of SSA building at MS Nowgam. Both the issues were raised by the people during the Block Diwas.
Among others, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sumbal Dr Bashir Ahmad Lone, Assistant Commissioner Development, Police and other civil officers besides BDC Chairpersons and DDC members were present on the occasion. SDM Sumbal, Dr Bashir Ahmad detailed the steps taken to ensure basic amenities to the public.
Similar programmes were held under the Chairmanship of ADDC Bandipora Afsar Ali Khan. The camp was attended by PRI members including BDC chairpersons, Sarpanches and panches and a large number of local people from the adjacent villages besides civil society members and prominent citizens of the sub division.
At Kulgam: The District Administration organised Mega Block Diwas at three blocks of the district to take appraisal of the public issues, grievances and demands.
During the mega Block Diwas, functions were held at Devsar, Kulgam and D.H.Pora blocks of the district. Officers and officials from line departments listened to issues, grievances and demands of the people for their timely redressal.
Meanwhile to take first hand appraisal of public grievances and demands, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, remained available at Town hall Devsar.
People in large numbers attended the public redressal camp and apprised the DC of their issues, grievances and demands. The DC after giving patients hearing to them assured of redressing all the genuine issues in a time bound manner.
Among others, Tehsildar, BDO, EO and other officers besides BDC’s and PRI members were present on the occasion.
Later, the DC inspected Chowgam Receiving Station and it was informed that the test try of the Receiving Station has been conducted. It was further informed that after inspection clearance the receiving station will be commissioned.
