Gamblers, Drug Peddler arrested in Ganderbal

GANDERBAL: Police on Thursday arrested a drug peddler with 10Kg of contraband substance in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
A Police Official said that on a specific information officials from police station Gund seized contraband substance comprising 10kg of Ganja, Chars powder 210 gram and charas sticks wrapped in corn husk -058 gram in Hariganiwan area of Kangan subdivision.
The drug peddler has been identified as Shakeel Ahmad Raina S/O Abdul Ahad Raina R/O kasanpati Hariganwan Ganderbal.
Locals have appreciated the efforts of Police especially SDPO who has started a war against drug menace in the area.
A case FIR No. 05/2021 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered in P/S Gund and further investigations have been taken up.
Meanwhile, acting tough against social crimes, police arrested four gamblers from a gambling site at Shuhama and seized ₹29500/- stake money.
On a specific information, police team constituted by SSP Ganderbal raided a gambling site at Village Shuhama and apprehended four gamblers on spot and recovered stake money to the tune of Rs 29500/= besides a deck of playing cards.
The accused have been identified as Khazir Mohammad Rather S/O Wali Mohammad Rather, Farooq Ahmad Sheikh S/O Abdul Salaam Sheikh, Imtiyaz Ahmad Sheikh S/O Habibullah Sheikh and Ghulam Mohammad Wani S/O Ghulam Ahmad Wani, all residents of Shuhama, Ganderbal.
In this regard, case vide FIR No. 13/2021 under section 13 Gambling Act has been registered in Police Station Ganderbal and investigation initiated.
