Time to rediscover Kashmir as shooting destination: Producers Guild
Srinagar: Mumbai based Producers Guild who are on a three day visit in Kashmir, said that it is time to rediscover the valley as a shooting destination.
Talking with the media in SKICC at Srinagar, many film production houses expressed their desire to shoot in Kashmir.
Nitin Auhja CEO of Producers Guild while speaking to the media said the purpose of the visit is to review the film shooting culture in Kashmir which is missing in the last few decades.
Ashish Singh, a member of the visiting delegation, said the connection of Bollywood with Kashmir is long lasting.
“Jammu and Kashmir can become the international destination for film shootings. All it needs is improvement in the infrastructure,” he said.
CEO Ajay Devegan Productions Meena Ayer endorses the review of other visiting delegates that much needs to be done infrastructure wise to boost tourism and film shooting culture in the valley.
“Forget Switzerland, it is time to re-discover Kashmir. There is vast scope for film shootings in Kashmir,” Ayer said.
Famous Indian chef Sanjeev Kapoor, who was also the part of delegation said that the food in Kashmir is relishing.
“I want to take Kashmiri food to every corner of the world,” Kapoor said.
Mumbai based Film Producers Guild had arrived in Srinagar to explore the possibility of film shootings in Kashmir.
Earlier the team had also visited various locations in Kashmir including famous ski-resort Gulmarg.
Recently many Bollywood celebrities visited the valley which included actress Sana Khan, TV Host and Anchor Aditya Narayan and Guru Randhawa.
Raji Rani Travels owner while speaking to the media said, ” Our connection with the Kashmir is decades old and will continue to carry the legacy forward.”
Director Tourism while addressing the media said the Producers Guild is in the valley to explore the film shootings which will also help in promoting the Tourism.
Later the delegation held a virtual interaction with Principal Secretary Niteshwar Kumar (IAS) and Secretary Tourism Sarmad Hafeez.
Hafeez while interacting with the delegation assured them of all possible help to shoot films in Kashmir.
The 24-member delegation from big banners of Bollywood arrived here on January 27 and visited Gulmarg yesterday to explore the locations for the film shooting.
Popular film producer Aashish Singh who has already shot some movies like Jab Tak Hai Jaan in Kashmir said the Valley provides a perfect backdrop for the filmmakers and has the potential of becoming the shooting destination for the world. “We have so much potential here for filmmaking that not only Bollywood but filmmaker’s from around the globe can shoot here.”
He said many filmmakers want to visit Kashmir and capture breathtaking visuals.
Later a video conference was also held which was chaired by Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor Niteshwar Kumar. Kumar assured the visiting delegations that J&K government would provide all support and facilitate them for their upcoming films. He said the government is also making a policy which will facilitate and encourage filmmakers to shoot in Kashmir.
