Tangmarg: The ICDS workers and ground workers have demanded the release of their salaries which they claim have been withheld for seven months now. The workers claimed that the denial of salary has put them in a fix.
“We have been without salary since the last seven months and have been subject to many hardships,” a worker said.
According to the report, the said workers have been subject to different basic need deficiencies as their salaries has not been released from past seven months.
While appealing to the honourable LG, Manoj Sinha, the workers have demanded the release of their salaries and asked the LG to personally intervene in the matter.
Stating that the workers have been discharging their duties despite several issues including the pandemic situation, they have blamed the concerned higher ups of deliberately putting them in difficult situations even knowing well how instrumental they have been in various matters including the fight against Covid 19.
Meanwhile, ICDS Union president, Tangmarg, Jabeena Akhter in a statement said “The workers in ICDS work with dedication but the department has propelled them to raise their voice for salaries to fulfill their basic needs since long”.
“The department is to help the poor and the destitute but it is an irony that its own employees have been made to nearly beg for their salaries,” she said.
The ground level workers in ICDS have appealed to higher authorities to release their honorarium as soon as possible. Further they stated that the government should have released the salaries well on time stating that it was their only support for fulfilling their basic needs.
