Srinagar: CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has expressed grief and shock over the death of two Kupwara youth who died in a stranded vehicle on Srinagar-Jammu NHW at Banihal due to severe cold and termed the incident as unfortunate.
“It is the result of criminal negligence of the authorities. It must be probed and those responsible for negligence must be identified and booked,” he said in a statement issued here.
The CPI (M) leader said that the Centre’s promises on development in Jammu Kashmir after abrogation of Article 370 proved a mere joke.
“The Srinagar- Jammu National Highway connecting the Kashmir valley to the outside country could not be constructed. The road is often closed due to bad weather conditions and in winter, the problem is aggravated by snowfall,” the CPI (M) leader added.
The highway has become a nightmare for the commuters due to its pathetic condition, he said.
He expressed sympathy with the bereaved families.
