Attendants, patients protest at GMC Anantnag

Anantnag: The attendants as well as patients on Monday protest at GMC Anantnag as doctors observed a pen down strike against an order passed by the DDC Anantnag.
Hundreds of attendants of patients who had reached GMC from different areas of south Kashmir were shocked to hear that doctors will not attend on them as they are observing strike against an order passed by the DDC Anantnag.
Patients present there said that they reached the hospital very early for treatment but doctors refused to attend on them, saying that they were on a strike.
After being constantly refused medical attention, patients as well as attendants shouted slogans against the doctors and hit the streets against the behavior of the medicos.
The protest led to severe traffic jam in the town due to which passengers also faced inconvenience, locals said.
Doctors on protest said that District Development Commissioner suspended doctors without checking the roasters.
They said that Jammu and Kashmir Doctors Coordination Committee had asked doctors to observe strike for two hours from 10 am to 12 am against the high handedness off revenue officers by interfering in hospital matters.
They said that emergencies were barred from this protest and were fully functional.
Pertinently, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag K K Sidha on Sunday sought explanation from Medical superintendent Maternity and Child Care hospital Anantnag after he found 14 doctors absent from duty.
