The locals alleged that they are facing huge inconvenience and hardships while commuting and taking the elderly or patients to hospitals.
“I had travel towards the hospital to take my father for a medical Check-up, but since the snow wasn’t cleared off the roads, I faced a lot of problems to reach the destination on time,” said Rahil Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Batpora Sopore.
“I faced immense difficulties just to cover the distance of one KM because my vehicle was continuously drifting here and there due to the snow accumulation on the road and lanes of our locality,” he added.
The R&B and MC departments which is duty-bound is to make roads hassle-free in times of bad weather seems non-serious in contributing their parts, said another local resident.
“The negligence towards their duties has cost the citizens of the town as they are facing immense hardships,” President Economic Alliance Sopore, Haji Muhammad Ashraf Ganaie said.
He said that government’s step motherly approach towards the Sopore town has not changed since decades.
