Stop crime against women

It is appalling to note that the National Commission for Women, (NCW) has received 23,722 complaints of crimes committed against women in 2020. These complaints are the highest in the last six years.
According to the NCW data, most of the grievances were linked to domestic violence, harassment of married women or dowry harassment, police apathy towards women, cybercrime and sexual molestation.
The system under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act had not been identified as an essential service during the lockdown. The Centre and State Government have also constituted several grievance redressal forums for women at the District level like women’s police stations, family counseling centers, help lines and courts, but all are failing to provide justice for women.
The need of the hour is that all the concerned authorities should initiate strong action against crimes related to women at the primary level and ensure the dignified life of women by ensuring justice on time.
