Amid snowfall, Kangan residents stage protest against PDD

KANGAN, Jan 5: Amid continuous snowfall, the residents of Akhal Kangan on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to repair the damaged transformer of their village since ten days.

The protesters from Khan Mohalla Akhal assembled at main market Kangan and staged protest against PDD alleging that the department has failed to repair the damaged transformer of their area.

The protesters raising slogans against the PDD said that they are facing immense hardships in this harsh winter.

“We are facing immense hardships in this harsh winter in absence of electricity,” the protesters said, adding that the transformer of their area developed technical snag two weeks back but the department has so far failed to repair it.

Later SHO police Station Kangan, Aftab Ahmed assured them that the matter will be taken up with PDD officials for early redressal. The protest was later called off.
