Muslims help perform last rites of Kashmiri Pandit in Ganderbal

GANDERBAL, Dec 25: Setting an example of communal harmony, Muslims helped in performing last rites of a Kashmiri Pandit in Ganderbal district on Friday.

According to the local residents, 90 year old Nath Ji Bhat son of Raghuram Bhat a resident of Wussan Ganderbal passed away on Friday after prolonged illness at his native place.

After a word about his death spread in the area villagers assembled at his house and condoled with his family members and assured them of full help.

The locals later performed his last rites, the residents said.

Notably, Muslim men carried the hearse to the cremation ground in the village.

“When we heard about the sad news, all of us rushed to console the family members and arrange for the last rites,” said Ghulam Nabi Lone, a local resident.

The nephew of the deceased said that they are thankful to the Muslim brethren of the area for the help and support they offered us in this hour of grief and sorrow.
