Awareness program on Drug Abuse organized at GDC Langate

Langate: Government Degree College Langate in North Kashmir on Thursday organized an awareness program against Drug Abuse. The program was attended by large number of students from Degree college Villgam, Kralpora, Handwara and Kupwara.
Mohammad Ashraf Wani Drug de addiction counselor district police Baramulla and Dr Arifa Aslam wani mental health expert were the chief guests. Besides, BMO Langate along with his expert team also participated in the event
Dr Taha Rasool from SDH Langate delivered introductory lecture on substance dependence and substance abuse.
The speakers on the occasion deliberated on the ill-effects of drug abuse and highlighted the need of taking preventive measures to eradicate the menace of drugs and other social evils in the district.
Principal GDC Langate Dr Neelofar Bhat said the main aim of the programme was to spread awareness amongst the student community to take necessary steps for curbing the drug menace.
More than 100 students participated in the event.
Professor Qaiser Qayoom while addressing the gathering, said that the purpose of conducting such seminars was to sensitize students regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Professor advised the students to look at the brighter side of the life and always have a positive life style.
He said that parents, teachers and friends have crucial role in desisting one from getting trapped into this plague by noticing early symptoms and counseling them accordingly.
