Seven gamblers held in Srinagar

Srinagar: Police on Monday claimed to have arrested seven gamblers from a gambling site and seized stake money, a police spokesman said.
He said that a police party of Police Post Nehru Park raided a gambling site at Zabarwan Park Boulevard road following an input about gambling activities and apprehended seven gamblers.
They have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Guroo resident of Umer Colony Bemina, Fayaz Ahmad Bhat resident of Batamaloo, Ishfaq Ahmad Banjari resident of Surteng Rainawari, Taseen Ahmad Khan resident of Abi Nowpora Khanyar, Irsahd Ahmad Shah resident of Aram Masjid Khanyar, Mudasir Ahmad Beigh resident of Hati Khan Rainawari and Gowher Ahmad Zargar resident of Tulsibagh Solina.
The statement said that the officers have seized playing cards and stake money of Rs 26,060/- from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS RM Bagh where they remain in custody, it added.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 128/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station RM Bagh and investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, police said persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. “Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units,” police said.
