Islam and terrorism
Nisar Ahmad
A terrorist can’t be a true Muslim and a true Muslim can’t be a terrorist. Islam is a religion of security and peace. These essentials are so prevalent in Muslim lives that they greet everybody they know or don’t know.
When we (Muslims) stand in prayer, we cut our relations with the world and turn to our Allah to worship him in a devout obedience. While finishing the prayer, almost like returning to the world, they give peace greetings to the angles on their right and left, and return to society with a wish for well being, security, and peace.
Greetings and wishing security and well being to others is regarded in Islamic teaching as being among the best deeds. One day, when they asked the messenger of God, which deed is more meritorious in Islam he answered, offering meals to others, and greeting everyone you know or you do not know.
Actually, there is no place for terrorism in Islam. To reiterate, terrorism cannot be associated with Muslim and Muslim cannot be a terrorist. A real Muslim has a single purpose on earth. In the life of this world, he weaves all of this thoughts and deeds by orienting them to that purpose. He makes his plans and projects for the sake of reaching it. What is that purpose? Only the good pleasure of God.
If a Muslim did understand Islam, then he should not think about anything but gaining God’s, good pleasure. One point I have mentioned many times before: A terrorist can’t be a true Muslim and a true Muslim can’t be terrorist. In accordance with the principle indefinite mention refers to the prime example by saying as Muslim we are trying to convey that a person who is open to the essence and spirit of Islam cannot commit such an act.
If a person claims to be a Muslim still commits such violence, then it means that they have a deficiency and gap in their understanding of religion, incompatible with the essential of Islam. To clarify my point, let me relate a saying of the Noble prophet (PBUH) that pertains to this issue.
The pride of humanity, peace and blessings be upon him, stated, “A Fornicator is not a believer at the moment when he is committing fornication. A drinker is not a believer at the moment when he is drinking wine, a thief is not believer at the moment when he is stealing, a robber is not a believer at the moment when he is robbing and the people are looking on “this saying tell us that a believer will not fornicate, steal, or drink while conscious of faith. In other words, it points out that a fornicator, thief, or drinker is not a real Muslim, at least while committing these sins.
Today we are witnessing a lot of misunderstanding. It is necessary for Muslim to come out and say, “in real Islam terror doesn’t exist because in Islam, killing of human is killing to Kufr (not believing in Allah). You can’t kill human being. You can’t touch the innocent, even in war. GOD ALMIGHTY considers taking one life as equal to killing of all humanity.
This beauty of humanity has reflected our prophets Mohammad (PBUH) some fourteen hundred years back that is when our prophet walked by one of the way where an old lady always threw dirt at him and this was happening on every day.
While walking one day on the same way, the Prophet (PBUH) didn’t see the lady throwing dirt at him and meanwhile he came to know that the lady has fallen ill and the Prophet (PBUH) rushes to her home and got concerned about her illness. The old woman got ashamed and felt that humanity lies in Islam. And then she accepted Islam.
One can’t go to heaven by killing another. A Muslim can’t say I will kill a man and then go to heaven “one can’t win Allah’s good pleasure by killing men. One of the most important goals of a Muslim is to please God, and the other is to make the almighty name of Allah known to the universe.
Punishment for a terror attack in Islam
“Terror can never be used to achieve Islamic goals. In this respect, a true Muslim can’t be a terrorist and a terrorist cannot be a Muslim. A Muslim can’t be a terrorist because Islam foresees the harshest penalty in this world for murder or for violating security and in the afterlife it foresees the harshest penalty for those that reject faith, those who associate partners with him and again those who have committed murder.
It warns that those who have deliberately and unjustly killed another will face an external life in hell. Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) says: “a time will come when he who kills will not know why he killed and he who was killed will not know why he was killed.
It is as if we are going towards that point step by step. Some people become suicide bombers and claim to be doing to be doing this in the name of religion. They do this for revenge, they do this to draw attention, if somebody blows himself up as a suicide bomber, forgive me, but that person will fall straight into Hell.
