Vital Rohmoo bridge awaits completion
Pulwama: Even though work on the vital Rohmoo bridge was started six years back but the authorities have failed to complete the civil works leaving the locals fuming.
Local residents said that Rohmoo bridge was to be constructed on Romshi rivulet in the village which could not only have connected several villages but provided hassle free commuting for the residents of several villages.
They said that this bridge was washed out during 2014 and since then people of this area have been facing hardships as authorities have failed to complete the civil works to complete the bridge.
Shakeel Ahmad, a local resident said that this bridge connects Pulwama district with neighbouring Budgam district and is of vital importance.
He said that many bridges which were approved after 2014 have been completed but no attention is being provided towards this bridge.
Another local resident said that this bridge is funded by world Bank and was taken up by JKPCC five years back and work was started accordingly, however, the department is yet to complete it due to which locals continue to face difficulties.
Locals said that they have knocked doors of several officials but apart from assurances they have offered us nothing.
The locals have once again requested the concerned authorities to look into the issue and complete the project at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
Pertinently, the bridge at Rohmoo is being constructed at an estimated cost of 21.5 crore.
On contacting Deputy General Manager JKPCC Pulwama Er Masood Ahmad, he said that release of funds from World Bank took too much of time and as a result the work on this vital bridge was hampered.
He added that for procuring prefabricated material a fresh tenders has been floated and once the materials are procured the work on the bridge will be started immediately.
He said that if all goes well the bridge will be completed by June 2021.
