Fire guts Tehsil office building in Bandipora, probe ordered
Bandipora: A district Tehsil office building was completely gutted in a fire mishap in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday evening, officials said.
They said that a massive fire broke out at around 05:00 PM inside Tehsil office building near District Police Station, triggering panic in the locality.
They said that the fire tenders were pressed into the service to douse the flames, but till then fire had damaged the building completely.
“Some official records and computers inside the building were also destroyed completely,” they said.
A police officer said the cause of fire was being ascertained while no loss of life or any injury was reported in the fire mishap.
He also said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in this regard and further investigation has been taken up.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Owais Ahmad said that he has ordered an inquiry to ascertain the actual cause of fire.
“Officials who were present when the fire emanated from the building were able to save some official records and the same has been handed over to Tehsildar Bandipora,” he said.
He also said that Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Bandipora will head the inquiry committee. (KNO)
