Anantnag: Even after a lapse of over 10 days a vital bridge in Kapran belt of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district is awaiting completion as officials have failed to complete the civil works which had to be carried out.
Locals from Khadar Kapran, the last village of Dooru Shahabad constituency of south Kashmir said that they are lacking in all basic amenities even in this modern age.
“We had been demanding for long seeking construction of Khadar bridge. Though the demand was accepted after years of toil but the authorities failed to complete the construction works on the bridge,” locals alleged.
“Clots were also made for the bridge in 2011 but more than nine years have passed since then and work on the bridge has not started,” Mukhtar Ahmad, a local resident said.
He said that politicians have got votes from the village till date but they failed to implement the promises made during the elections.
He said that although the locals had approached the officials many times about the construction of the bridge in Khadar Kapran, however, till date, nothing seemed to have worked.
The locals said that in absence of bridge they are facing immense problems as no vehicle reaches the village.
“Whenever someone falls ill or a an expecting woman is to be rushed to a hospital we have to shoulder such patients to outside the village and later shift them to a healthcare facility,” Bashir Ahmad, another local complained.
The locals have once again appealed Deputy Commissioner Anantnag to take the issue seriously and instruct the concerned department to start work on the bridge so that the locals do not have to suffer anymore.
