Grenades lobbed on police in Kulgam, Shopian

Srinagar: Unknown ultras on Monday evening lobbed two grenades targeting the police, but no injury or damage was reported in both the incidents.
Police sources said that suspected militants lobbed a grenade towards Police Post Frisal in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. However, no loss of life or injury was reported during the incident.
Officials said that unknown persons hurled a grenade towards Police Post Frisal at 06:12 PM.
“However in this incident, no loss of life or injury occurred to any as the grenade missed the target and exploded outside the building of the Police Post,” they said, adding that taking the advantage of darkness, the militants managed to flee from the spot.
“The whole area has been cordoned off and search operations have been launched to nab the attackers,” the official added.
Meanwhile, suspected militants lobbed a grenade towards Police Station Shopian which, however, failed to explode, officials said.
An official said that militants hurled a grenade on Police Station Shopian, which didn’t explode.
They said that Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) has been called to diffuse the grenade. (with inputs from KNO)
