SOPORE: Over a dozen cattle including sheep, goats and a cow were devoured by a wild bear and stray dogs in a mountainous area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district during the past two days, reports said.
Reports said one dozen sheep, goats and a cow belonging to Ghulam Nabi Ganai and Abdul Malik Dar of Muqam Shaheed Mir Sopore were killed in an attack by group of stray dogs and a wild bear during the last two days.
“The cattle were attacked and killed during the night and we could do nothing to save them,” Ghulam Nabi Ganai, said.
He said that the locals had informed the officials of the Wild life and Sheep Husbandry departments about the movement of wild animals in the area.
“But the officials failed to take any precautionary measures,” he added.
The local residents once again urged the administration to take precautionary measures and help the people to come over the loses they have suffered.
