GANDERBAL, Nov 9: Police in Ganderbal arrested a bootlegger and recovered 75 bottles of liquor from him, a police spokesman said.

He said that on the directions of SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal and under the supervision of ASP, Feroz Yahya have launched a crusade against drug peddlers in Ganderbal district.

The police official said that a routine naka (checking point) was laid at Shuhama crossing by Police Post Nagbal headed by DO, Mohammad Akbar.  

During checking of vehicles one suspicious scooty rider (registration No. JK-01 AB 7833) was intervened and while intervention he tried to dodge the naka party by his lies about his consignment.

“While searching properly, 75 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from his possession,” he said.

He identified the bootlegger as Ali Gulzar Bhat son of Ali Mohammad Bhat resident of Alamgari Bazar Hawal.

In this connection a case FIR No. 228/2020 under relevant sections of Law has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal and further investigation were taken up.
