Pulwama: An unidentified militant has been killed in an encounter that broke out between militants and security forces in Noorpora village of Awantipora belt in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district while another one surrendered, police said.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that one militant was killed in the initial exchange of firing, while the second militant who was trapped at the encounter site agreed to surrender after hectic persuasion by the police and army.
Pertinently, two newly recruited Al-Badr militants also surrendered before security forces in Sopore last week.
Earlier, reports said that a joint team of Police and army’s 42RR launched a cordon and search operation in Noorpora.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.
Sources said that the militants were related to Ansar Gazwat ul Hind.
