Pestering power cuts trouble Pahalgam residents

Anantnag: Unscheduled power cuts in Pahalgam belt of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district are troubling the local residents.
Locals residents said that even before beginning of the winter season, the power development department is resorting to unscheduled power cuts which is causing lot of miseries for the locals.
They said that various far off villages are hardly receiving 2 to 3 hour power supply on daily basis despite the fact that people are submitting their bills on time.
Aadil Ahmad, a local resident said that they are continuously pleading before the higher ups in this regard while the authorities assured them to redress their grievance but the promises made by the authorities proved hoax.
He said that the residents of Laripora, Kharpora, main Pahalgam and its adjacent areas have been reeling under darkness from last 15 days but no heed is being provided towards our sufferings.
Locals said that if the same trend continues, the people will be forced to the take streets.
Locals also requested Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Chief Engineer PDD and DDC Anantnag to look into the matter and provide unscheduled power supply to the area, so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
On contacting assistant executive engineer PDD sub division Ashimuqam Farooq Ahmad, he said that there were some issues in 33 000 kv line since the last few days.
He said that field staff is working to fix the problem and assured that the residents of these areas will get power supply as per the schedule from Tuesday onwards.
