Five killed in two road mishaps

Jammu: Five people died while as eight others were injured in two separate road mishaps in Jammu division, police sources said Friday.
They said that three persons were killed and eight others injured when their vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down a 300-feet deep gorge in Doda on Friday, police said.
A Tata sumo was on its way from Bhadarwah to Dedni village in Marmat area of Doda when it skidded off the road near Chetdu nallah in Hambal area, they said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Doda, Mumtaz Ahmed said police and locals immediately rushed to the spot and shifted all the people to GMC Hospital in Doda, where doctors declared three brought dead.
“Eight, including three minors, were injured and are undergoing treatment at Doda hospital,” the SSP added.
The deceased have been identified as Tara Mani, Ishtyaq Ahmed and Jahangir Hussain, police said.
In another mishap a driver and his conductor who were running a tanker were killed in an accident on Mughal Road, which connects Kashmir Valley with Poonch, officials said.
They said that the tanker bearing registration number (JK02CH 2595) was on way to Jammu from Kashmir Valley when it met with an accident at Poshana on the Mughal road.
The driver has been identified as Tarvinder Singh of Jammu and conductor as Mangal Singh of Doda.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Surankote Choudhary Abdul Khaliq confirmed that two persons were killed in the accident. A case under relevant sections of law has been registered in connection with the accident, he added. (with PTI inputs)
