Slain inspector had plans to visit his parents

Has left behind three children, wife

Bijbehara: On Monday evening Inspector Mohammad Ashraf was planning to meet his parents who are putting up with his brother, however the meeting did not take place. Ashraf was shot minutes before he could leave for his brother’s residence.
Pertinently, inspector Mohammed Ashraf Bhat who was recently promoted to the rank of an Inspector was posted at Lethpora Pulwama.
Ashraf , was shot immediately after he came out of a local mosque where he had gone to offer prayers.
His relatives said that after offering prayers at a local mosque, he was on way to meet his parents, who are living with his another brother.
He was shot by gunmen and left critically injured near Bijbehara . Though we shifted him to a nearby hospital, however, doctors declared him as brought dead, said the relatives.
They said that slain Ashraf has left behind two daughters, Aaliya(20) , Tawseefa(16) and son Muneeb aged (13) besides his wife.
Locals said that Ashraf was a down to earth person and they are yet to come to terms as to why was he killed.
Pertinently, on Tuesday, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbagh Singh visited the house of the slain cop and condoled his demise.
Interacting with the family members at their Sundpora Kanelwan residence in Anantnag district, the DGP expressed heartfelt condolences and assured all help from the department to the family.
He also assured to expeditiously deal with the ex-gratia case so that the family is taken care of, especially the children
He was accompanied by senior police officers including IGP, DIG South and SSP Anantnag.
