Workshop on ‘female hygiene’ held

Srinagar: ‘We Volunteers’ an NGO conducted a day long workshop on female hygiene at their office complex in Mehjoor Nagar Srinagar on Sunday.
“We Volunteers has always been at the forefront of organizing health, hygiene and education orientated programmes in both rural and urban areas which have been devoid of the awareness of the same for long,” a statement issued by the NGO said.
“As we know menstruation and female hygiene is considered a taboo in most societies, this contributes to the ignorance and illiteracy on female hygiene management,” it said.
“It was in this backdrop that an awareness workshop was conducted on female hygiene Awareness and Management for girls of age group 10-14 and their mothers. The workshop was hosted by Dr Maida who briefed the children and their mothers on the objectives and importance of female hygiene,” the statement said.
Some of the girls from the audience also spoke on the topic and were facilitated with prizes. After concluding the workshop, around 200 female children were provided with free subscription of sanitary napkins for six months.
Malik Asif Noor, Chairman, ‘We Volunteers’ thanked the doctors and all the volunteers for accomplishing the goals of the workshop really well.
