Pulwama: After suffering huge losses due to lockdown various entrepreneurs running their units at Lassipora industrial estate in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have resumed their activity though not fully.
President of industrialists association SIDCO Lassipora Sheikh Nisar Ahmad said that like everyone, they too have suffered huge losses.
“Since the abrogation of article 370 last year and later the Covid-19 lockdown, we have not been able to run our units,” Sheikh Nisar said.
He said that most of the workforce they had have left the place and it was almost after one year of closure that units have started their business activity.
“We have witnessed huge loses as most of the units are run on loans secured from various financial institutions,” he added.
He said that after lockdown was eased, industries have resumed to work normally, however, it will take us years to compensate for the losses we suffered since August 05 last year.
He further added that they are going through tough times in absence of 4G, unscheduled power supply and the mounting bank loans.
“The government can intervene and provide us some help like restoring 4G internet connectivity and by providing uninterrupted power supply to run our business units without facing much of a problems,” Nisar, added .
“We haven’t been able to earn anything since the last two years now, but we are forced to pay interest component on our loans. How can we pay,” he said, adding that, government can help us by waiving off the interest component.
“Our business is wholly and solely dependent on internet connectivity, however in absence of 4G services we are facing lot of problems,” he said.
Notably, the few hindered units active in the industrial area provide employment to around seven thousand people.
