Weapon smuggling bid foiled in Keran sector of Kupwara: Army
Kupwara, Oct 10: Army on Saturday claimed to have foiled the weapon smuggling at Kishanganga river along the line of control (LoC) at Keran sector in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district and recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunition.
Officials said that army noticed movement of two to three men who were transporting some items in a rubber tube filled with air through Kishanganga river and with timely action the weapon smuggling bid was foiled by alert troops.
Defence sources said that army men foiled the weapon smuggling bid by three persons who had tied a tube with huge quantity of arms and ammunition with a rope across Kishangaga river from Pakistan administered Kashmir side.
The timely action of alert forces has foiled another smuggle of war like store successfully, the defence sources said.
They said that after the timely action troops reached the spot and recovered huge amount of war like store that include, 4 AK 47 Rifles, 8 Magazines and 240 rounds.
It a may be recalled that the army earlier claimed a number of catches in forward areas in Uri and stated that the weapons dumped close to LoC are meant for the militancy related activities in the valley and the militants are without proper weapons and are desperate to avail some but all such attempts will made in future will be foiled.
