Inmates allegedly attempt to manhandle Jail Superintendent

Kupwara: Two inmates allegedly tried to manhandle the Jail superintendent Kupwara after an argument over the facilities in Jail barracks.
Sources said that Jail Superintendent Kupwara Shahbaz Ahmed was inspecting jail barracks when there was an argument between him and two inmates. The inmates alleged lack of facilities in the jail.
Sources said that the argument led to scuffle and the two inmates tried to manhandle the Jail Superintendent, however, the timely intervention of some senior officers brought the situation under control.
An official feigned ignorance about the incident, however, sources identified the two inmates involved in the incident as Shafqat Ali Tagoo of Sopore area of Baramulla and Junaid Ahmed Dar of Wathoora Budgam.
Both the inmates had been arrested and shifted to Kupwara Jail on militancy charges.
An FIR vide number 50/2020 under section 7/25 Arms Act, 18 B, 20, 23,38,39 ULAP Act stands registered against Shafqat Ali at police station Sopore while Janaid Ahmad Dar is involved in case FIR number 79/2019 under section 307,325 RPC 7/27 Arms Act 16,18,20 38 39 ULAP Act at Police Station Saddar Srinagar.
