Samboora encounter: Two LeT militants killed, 01 army trooper injured

Pulwama, Sep 27: Two Laskhar-i-Toiba militants were killed and a Army soldier injured on Sunday in a gunfight at Samboora area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Official sources said that two militants have been killed in an ongoing operation, however the identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained.

They said that one Army soldier received minor injury in foot, subsequently he was shifted to 92 Base hospital for treatment.

A police official said that the operation has been suspended for night due to darkness. However, a tight cordon has been kept intact around the encounter site.

“Operation will resumed tomorrow morning,” the officer added.

Pertinently, 170 militants have been killed in Valley so far this year.

Earlier, As per the reports, a joint team of Police, Army’s 50RR and CRPF launched cordon and search operation in Samboora after receiving specific information.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the party, triggering off an encounter.(GNS)
