NSS-KU holds training program in collaboration with UNICEF

Srinagar: The National Service Scheme (NSS), University of Kashmir, Srinagar in collaboration with UNICEF organised a One-Day training programme on ‘Anti-stigma and Infection, Prevention & Control’ in the context of COVID-19.
The training sessions in the programme were conducted by Dr. Vivek Virender , Health Specialist, UNICEF, Dr. Elnur Aliyev, Communication for development specialist, UNICEF and Dr. Sheikh Mohd. Saleem, Health Consultant, UNICEF.
The Child Protection Specialist, UNICEF, Kashmir Chapter Hilal Bhat in his inaugural address emphasised the significance of basic steps involved in prevention of infection in the fight against Covid- 19.
Dr. Musavir Ahmad, NSS Programme Coordinator, NSS KU reflected upon the role of youth volunteers in community efforts in mitigating the impact of disasters like pandemic.
The program was jointly moderated by Dr. Yasir Hamid, Program Officer and anvir Ahmad, Consultant UNICEF.
Around 100 participants from University of Kashmir and Colleges participated in the workshop.
The programme aimed at sensitizing the NSS volunteers against the potential dangers of the stigma associated with infectious diseases in general and Covid-19 in particular and to counter stigmatizing attitudes in the first part of the session. The second part of the training programme focused on Infection, Prevention & Control of Covid-19 at the community level.
