Four years on authorities yet to start work on sanctioned receiving station
Pulwama: Even after elapsing of more than four years, authorities are yet to start construction work on the much awaited receiving station in Pakherpora area Budgam district.
Locals said that receiving station was sanctioned for Charipora Pakherpora on Pulwama boundary in 2016, however so far nothing has been done on ground.
They said the receiving station if constructed will cater to dozens of Pulwama and Budgam villages.
At present many villages from Pulwama and Budgam are receiving power supply from Pulwama but due to long distance the residents are getting unscheduled power supply, said Saqib Ahmad a local resident.
“Even if it will rain for few minutes, our power supply remains cut off for two to three days,” he said.
Locals said that around four years have passed now since the receiving station was sanctioned but so far no concrete step has been taken on ground for its construction due to which the people of Pakherpora belt which comprises of over 20 villages are suffering.
Locals from Pakherpora, Kamrazipora, Thokerpora, Alglar Kandi, Kanigam, Charipora, Mohanpora, Mirgund, Khaigam, Kanedajan and its adjacent areas said that they are hardly receiving power supply for two to three hours on daily basis, but if authorities will construct this receiving station, the issue of power crisis will be mitigated once for all.
Locals have demanded that authorities must start construction work on the receiving station at an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief once the power station will be made functional.
On contacting in charge executive engineer Power development department project wing Abdul Rashid, he said that the project has been sanctioned under a centrally sponsored scheme.
“We are waiting for the release of funds which have not been released yet,” he said.
“We have kept it in priority list and once funds will be released, work shall be started accordingly,” he added.
