Tableegi Jamaat , a section of preachers was founded in 1926 by the scholar known as Muhammad Ilythaas Al Kandlawi, in India. It was established in the backdrop of reviving the Islamic religion in its true and pure form.
The followers of Islam during this period where not practicing the religious faith in its pure form. Thus the society tried to revive the Islamic religion in its best form with originality by following the core tenets of Islam.
The slogan of the society is “Become True Muslims”. The Tableegi Jamat, is now running across the world with its centers in almost every country, especially in Asia.
The main focus of the Jamaat, is not to convert people o the religion of Islam, rather it is to invite the Muslims to follow their own religion in its pure form as it was practiced by Prophet Muhammad [SAW]. This is known as DAWAA that is proselytizing the Muslims, to nurture their own faith.
While, in contemporary period, many people misunderstand this society as it is trying to convert non Muslims to the Islam, this is wrong and baseless. Their chief aim is to practice their own religion in its pure form as it ought to be in the light of Al Quran and Hadith. The society is a great peace lover and wants to spread the peace across the world and simultaneously desist from spreading the hate and ill will.
The society emphasis to live life the way our beloved Prophet [peace be upon him lived] this being the reason that the Jammat members wear the dress and have their food habits the way our beloved prophet did. The society members live a simple life and wear simple dress, keeping a long beard. Their food is absolutely simple and during the period of DAWAA, they stay in mosques and cook food by their own. After that, they mobilize the Muslim community to practice the religion in letter and spirit.
The Tableegi Jamaat, has not any rigid structure rather it is flexible and simple in its constitution. The head of the Jamaat is called Ameer, currently headed by Maulana Saad. Different sections are headed by district Ameers. There are different centers of Jammat at district level.
The society coincides with other revival movements which focused on practicing their religion in pure forms like Shuddi movement, Rama Krishna mission, Dev Samaj, Brahmo Samaj, Arya Samaj in Hinduism who during British era tried to revive their religion so that it could be practiced in real spirit.
These movements criticized the irrational rituals, religious orthodoxy and social dogmas and contributed immensely in socio –religious domain of the society. These movements ended the religious exploitation by preaching the religion in its original form and even interpreted the religious texts from scientific perspective. Thus contributed in the overall development of the nation in the times of crisis, when India was passing through vicious exploitative ages owing to British imperialism.
Thus philosophy of Tableegi Jamaat is refining of religion as well as refinement of its followers of Islamic religion so that Muslim community practice Islam as used to be practiced by Prophet Muhammad [SAW] in letter and spirit and also develop the Muslim culture within the community.
The society preaches respect of all religions and religious tolerance across the globe. Its focus is youth of the nation, as it wishes to guide youth and refine them and encourage them morally, spiritually and physically.
The Jammat has the credit of inculcating ethics in the young generation so that they could grow morally high. The Jammat has no political affiliations in any of the country and strictly forbids violence and terrorism in any form. The Jammat is open for all age groups who could learn and practice the Islam. There is dire need that this society needs to be encouraged so that it may contribute in eradicating the vices plaguing our society in present times.
