19 more patients die, 1,467 test positive for Covid-19

Srinagar: The COVID cases continued to witness a surge in Jammu and Kashmir as 1467 fresh cases were detected on Thursday, thus taking the toll of positive cases to 59,711 in the Union Territory. Moreover, 19 fresh deaths were recorded on Thursday taking the total number of deaths due to deadly virus to 951 here.
Of the total 59,711 cases, 39,127 are from Kashmir and 20,583 from Jammu division. Officials said that among 1,467 new cases, 682 belong to Kashmir division while as 785 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 39,128 including 29,592 recoveries and 752 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 20,583 including 8,929 recoveries and 199 deaths.
The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 20,5239 including 8,784 from Kashmir division and 11,455 from Jammu division.
With 712 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 38,521, which is 64.51 percent of the total cases and was over 78 percent over a week back.
Notably, for the first time since COVID-19 outbreak, the active cases have reached over 20,000 in Jammu and Kashmir and active cases in Jammu division are more than recovered cases.
“Cases tested positive in J&K include 233 from Srinagar, 89 from Budgam, 53 from Baramulla, 28 from Pulwama, 78 from Anantnag, 47 from Kupwara, 55 from Bandipora, 14 from Kulgam, 75from Ganderbal and 10 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 785 from Jammu division include 210 from Jammu, 82 from Udhampur, 88 from Rajouri, 75 from Kathua, 69 from Samba, 75 from Poonch, 18 from Ramban, 97 from Doda, 27 from Reasi and 44 from Kishtiwar,” officials disclosed.
Notably, in the last 24 hours, 19 persons who were tested positive for COVID-19 have died which include five from Kashmir division and 14 from Jammu division.
As per media bulletin, patients who have died include four from Srinagar and one from Kulgam in Kashmir division and 11 from Jammu, one each from Udhampur, Samba and Reasi in Jammu division.
As per officials figures, 12,400 positive cases including 260 deaths and 910,116 recoveries are from Srinagar, 4,155 including 74 deaths and 2,467 recoveries are from Budgam, 3,662 including 2,481 recoveries and 114 deaths are from Baramulla, 3,372 including 2,821 recoveries and 62 deaths are from Pulwama, 3,091 including 54 deaths and 2,251 recoveries are from Anantnag, 3,027 including 2,055 recoveries and 60 deaths are from Kupwara, 3,018 cases including 1,973 and 30 deaths are from Bandipora, 2,135 including 1,958 recoveries and 42 deaths are from Kulgam, 2,366 including 1,767 recoveries and 26 deaths are from Ganderbal and 1,902 including 1,703 recoveries and 30 deaths are from Shopian.
In Jammu division, 9,429 including 3,198 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Jammu district, 1,685 including 906 recoveries and 08 deaths are from Udhampur, 1,861 including 877 recoveries and 19 deaths are from Rajouri, 1,577 including 964 recoveries and 13 deaths are from Kathua, 1243 including 633 recoveries and 10 deaths are from Samba, 1,162 including 432 recoveries and 06 deaths are from Poonch, 922 including 666 recoveries and 04 deaths are from Ramban, 1,264 including 504 recoveries and 15 deaths are from Doda, 683 including 385 recoveries and 04 deaths are from Reasi and 757 including 361 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Kishtwar.
As per the daily information bulletin, 535,846 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 30,027 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 20,239 persons are in isolation.
According to the bulletin, 419,369 persons have completed surveillance period and 65,260 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 1,320,240 samples are available.
Out of 1,320,240 the number of samples tested negative stands at 1,260,529 while 59,711 have tested positive, among them 20,239 are active and 38,521 persons have recovered. (with inputs from KNO)
