Militants escape after firing at soldiers in Pulwama village

Pulwama: After initial exchange of fire in which two soldiers sustained bullet injuries, militants managed to escape from the encounter spot here in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police official said that after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in Marvel village of Pulwama, combined forces including soldiers from 50 Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF personnel from 182 and 183 Battalions and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the village and launched search operation.
The official said that militants believed to be three in number resorted to indiscriminate firing resulting in the injuries of two soldiers.
The official identified the injured soldiers as Sepoy Mahindar Singh Goyal and Sepoy Solanki Bhai. Both soldiers sustained bullet injuries and shifted to army hospital for treatment.
The official said that militants managed to escape from the village and after thorough searches, operation was called off. (KNT)
