Anantnag: The road from Verinag to Imoh in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district has been closed for the last several months due to which people are facing difficulties, locals said Saturday.
They said that as more Covid cases started coming up in March and April this year the administration set up a screening center at the toll post and blocked this road so that people won’t use alternative road and skip their registration at the screening centre.
They said that that the movement of traffic has been eased now almost a month back but the road continues to remain closed due to which locals of the area are facing difficulties.
“Due to the closure of the road, we are forced to travel long distances by using alternative routes thereby consuming our time as well as money,” said Wasim Ahmad, a local resident.
He added that they have taken up this issue with the administration recently however, nothing has been done on ground.
Locals of the area have requested the administration to look into the issue and open road for public transport so that the locals won’t suffer any more.
